Obadiah Salon has been open in Bellevue Place since 1989. The salon had three owners until 1998 when Michelle Kleppe took ownership. The salon has been thriving ever since.

Michelle started at Obadiah as a stylist in 1995 and had aspirations of owning her own salon. Her opportunity to realize this dream came in late 1997 when the owners came to a decision to sell. Michelle jumped at the opportunity and started on her new responsibilities and vision in March 1998.

One of Michelle’s first business decisions was to hire back Shannon Sunde as her salon manager. Shannon had previously been with Obadiah and had a wealth of salon experience. Shannon and Michelle spent the first year reorganizing and restructuring the staff and starting to bring their vision for the salon to fruition. In March of 2000 Michelle hired Vu Montgomery as Director of Education to design and lead an Apprentice Program for the salon, which has become a very successful program that helped to promote our culture of advanced and continuing education.

Michelle dedicated herself to staffing the salon with like-minded people that share common values, goals and attributes, as well as professionalism and the level of service they would bring to Obadiah’s customers. Over the years Michelle has built a diverse, talented, fun, and intelligent staff that she is very proud of.

Michelle also forged relationships with some of the most exclusive and prestigious hair care lines in the industry. Obadiah became one of the first salons in the Pacific Northwest to carry the Oribe and Bumble and bumble product lines.

Michelle truly believes in her vision:

“to create a unique and wonderful experience for our clientele by providing an environment that our professional team can thrive in.”

Over the years the entire staff has contributed and driven this vision through teamwork, community involvement, charity, and educating themselves to serve their clients to the best of their abilities.
